A/N: So I wrote a drabble (kind of, it’s longer than a traditional drabble but it’s not nearly long enough to be a oneshot so we’re gonna call it a drabble) anyways it’s based off that head canon I posted a little while ago and yeah it’s Cadley so don’t like it don’t read it also a warning for a major character death k yeah enjoy :)

Thirteen stared blankly into the distance as the spring air blew in her hair and cooled her tear-streaked face. She didn’t even flinch when a hand made its way to her shoulder. She turned her head to find a familiar face staring back at her.
“Cameron, what are you-”
“Please Remy, call me Allison.”
The blonde took a seat next to her younger former colleague and friend. She smoothed down the front of her black skirt and did her best to start a conversation.
“I can’t believe he’s really dead.” Thirteen said out of the blue. “He was supposed to outlive me…we had a promise.”
Cameron was thankful that Thirteen had brought up the vow that House and the brunette had made, because it was exactly what Cameron needed to talk to her about.
“Remy, about that…I’ll do it. I can kill you, if you want…when the time comes and you need someone there, I’ll be it.”
Thirteen was shocked,
“Allison, please…you don’t have to, really.”
Cameron ignored the tears that were now furiously streaming down her face and tried to lighten her expression,
“It’s not the first time I’ve promised to kill someone for House-although I wouldn’t even be doing it for him…I’d do it for you, because I know you need it.”
Thirteen wanted to hug the blonde as tight as she could, but she resisted. Instead, she took her hand,
“Thank you, really, but how would we know…we haven’t spoken in over two years. I’ve…I’ve missed you.”
Cameron’s heart swelled a little-it was her fault that since moving to Chicago she hadn’t kept up with any of her friends in New Jersey. She’d fallen in love with Thirteen many years before, and she knew that her feelings had never really gone away, and that those feelings were the reason she hadn’t settled down with anyone else yet. She took a deep breath and swallowed her anxiety,
“I’m sorry about that, really. I’m going to do something stupid, and I just want to warn you.”
Thirteen gave her an encouraging look.
“I want you to come to Chicago with me. I can get you a job, maybe in the ER or internal medicine.”
Thirteen’s tears of shock and pain turned to tears of joy. Was the woman she’d fallen for so hard years before really offering to help Thirteen be as comfortable as possible for the rest of her years? She didn’t want to question it,
“Allison, that’s…incredible. Why are you doing this?”
Cameron let out a shaky exhale, closed her eyes, and let it out,
“Because I love you.” She opened her eyes, waiting for the brunette’s reaction. “I have, for awhile…years, actually.”
Thirteen didn’t say a word, and she leaned into Cameron, pressing a fast and gentle kiss to the blonde’s lips. Tears continued to stream down their faces, this time out of disbelief and gratitude.
Thirteen would finally get her happy ending.

Cameron sobbed as the heart monitor that had been tracking the same heartbeat she’d fallen asleep to for nearly seven years let out a single tone. Her hand had not released Thirteen’s, and she never wanted to let it go. She couldn’t look at her wife’s still face, so she stared at her lap and closed her eyes. She didn’t want to cry, because this was exactly what they had promised each other-it was what was best for the brunette. As her bad days were starting to compete with her good ones, they both knew that it was time. Still, Cameron did not want to know a world without her one true love. She wiped her tears with her free hand-which was useless, because it seemed as though there was a never-ending stream of them. She heard the words of the man she’d admired and looked up to for so long in her mind, but she could have sworn he was whispering them in her ear at that very moment,
“I’m proud of you.”
